Thanksgiving... video game adaptations... turkey reviews... welcome to the groove.

As the holiday season kicks into high gear, things have also been moving along at Honesty is Not Contagious. That isn’t to say there haven’t been bumps in the road, but progress remains ever forward. The train may not arrive yesterday, however, it’ll get there sooner than you think.

November being home to National Christmas Kick-off Day a lot of the articles I wrote this month tended in that direction. Still, I managed to eek out opportunities to stretch in other directions. Finished my big book “Killing Lake Michigan” which is now in the tail end of revisions and will soon be seeking a publisher. Beerfinger material has slowed but that’s due to forces beyond my control. Specifically, electronic failures and a pinched nerve in back.  Pain is lessening, though, so tracks are starting to come together on the upcoming album “Lessens”.

25YL, where I’ve been doing a lot, has rebranded as Film Obsessive, at least the division I’m working for. This month they let me type up some thoughts on why there’s not been a quality movie inspired by a video game. The article is a quick look at the history of such films as well as why that past shows potential for a bright future.

Horror Obsessive, another branch of the 25YL tree, tossed a turkey in my lap called “Amityville Thanksgiving”. It’s a terrible shlock flick I loved watching. Though I gave it rough review, I do think there’s an audience for this sort of awful. Mainly, the kind of folks like me, who don’t mind a few cocktails before having a laugh at hot garbage. Check out the review then maybe see for yourself.

In keeping with the season, I also took a look at why there aren’t a lot of Thanksgiving themed films. It’s a complicated problem than it seems. Yet, I can’t shake the feeling filmmakers just aren’t trying.  Those and other thoughts are in the article below. (Also got to do some original art for the featured image which is always nice.)

Why There are Few Seconds for Thanksgiving Films - Film Obsessive

Finally, here’s the first single off Beerfinger’s upcoming album “Lessens”. It's called "Welcome to the Groove". Another no-budget DIY video, but I’m happy with the result. I ran a few pics through an AI paint program then took those results and touched them up myself. While collaborating with Picasso Skynet seems weird, it did produce some fabulous results.

Otherwise, that’s all for now. Kinda pushed my nerve pain to the limit getting things done these last few days. I don’t say that to solicit pity, rather to remind myself, slowly but surely, I'm getting back to heavy lifting as it were. Meanwhile, my best to you and yours. Stay safe, stay weird, and as always, cheers!
